Thank You, Grandpa
This glowing picture book, by turns playful and poignant, portrays the tender relationship between a grandfather and granddaughter as they appreciate nature together over the years. They take their first walk in the woods when the little girl is barely old enough to toddle; their last when Grandfather can only shuffle along. Each walk brings a new discovery-a sneaky snake, flashing fireflies, teardrops on a spiderweb-and sometimes a lesson about saying good-bye. One day the girl walks alone, stronger because she learned from her grandfather how to be grateful for life's fleeting gifts.

Illustrated by Jason Cockcroft.

Grandma's Cobwebs
Claire's parents teach her facts about Alzheimer's Disease. They don't, however, pay much attention to how Claire is feeling about the changes in her grandmother's behavior.

Claire tells her friends silly stories about Grandma to make them laugh. Afterwards she feels guilty, gets in a fight and is grounded.

While she is grounded, Claire realizes that Grandma, who was the best grandmother in the world before she developed Alzheimer's Disease, is still the best grandmother in the world.

Grandma's Cobwebs helps children understand the physical and emotional aspects of Alzheimer's Disease. Grandma's Cobwebs, also, introduces the Three R's of Alzheimer's Disease: Relax, Remember and Respect. Grandma's Purple Flowers
Grandma's house has always been the narrator's favorite place. On her way to visit Grandma, she plucks daisies and sunflowers, and best of all, purple flowers--Grandma's favorites. Whenever Grandma sees the purple flowers, her smile grows wide--like the Mississippi River.

One winter day Grandma is too tired to bake, but she rubs her grandchild's back gently and ties a ribbon that unraveled in her hair. Later that night, Grandma passes away, and all winter long, the young girl is sad, missing her grandmother terribly. When spring finally arrives, and flowers begin to shoot up from the ground, the girl discovers her own special way to accept her grandmother's death and keep Grandma with her always.

In this moving story, author/illustrator, Adjoa J. Burrowes deals sensitively with the difficult experience of death, and tells a moving story that celebrates the triumph of hope and spirit during a difficult time.
